New York City Tribute

The Tina Thompson Dance Theater will honor
Sean McLeod as the special guest at New York
City's famed Ailey Citigroup Theater, The
Joan Weill Center for Dance, June 9th.  Located
at 405 West 55th Street at 9th Avenue,
Manhattan.

 

ECCENTRICA, An evening of New era movement,
dance, celebration of life and reflection, will be presented
by the Tina Thompson Dance Theatre will be on Saturday,
June 9, 2007 8pm.

Astounding the dance community with its raw edge and humanistic approach, the works of the Tina Thompson Dance Theatre engage intense, unbridled, and energetic movement.  The company is noted for it’s exploration of relavant subject matter, using the combined diciplines of jazz, contemporary and Modern dance forms, that meld together to provide a moving performance for a diverse audience.

The ECCENTRICA evening will also feature the award-winning choreography of International Producer and Choreographer Sean McLeod, artistic director of the Kaleidoscope Dance Theatre (KDT). His offering is scheduled to including the celebrated “GERSHWIN SUITES” and the 5 Th movement of the critically acclaimed “RITE OF PASSAGE.”  Joining the dancers of the Tina Thompson Dance Theater for the special event, will be KDT principal dancer, Lorienne Beals-Masanada, corp member Dia Dearstyne, apprentice Annie Hubben, Jerami Kipp, and the critiqcally acclaimed Jacquelyn Scafidi!

Fufilling the rest of the program, Mrs. Thompson will unveil two new pieces, “WALL 3,” a Political piece about man’s destruction to our environment and ecosystem, and “ROBE,” a Women's liberation piece reflecting the plights, phases and multitude of emotions experienced thru the journey called womanhood.  Music set to Meshelle N'degecello, Nina Simone, Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan.  Mrs. Thopmson will also present her signature piece, “THRU,” set to music by Maya Angelou and Duke Ellington.
