The New York Summer Dance Intensive includes 8 1/2 hours of dance a day, with dance opportunities in Modern, Ballet, Hip Hop, MT Afro Hip Hop, Tap, African, Reinforced Motor Function-RMF and MT (Sean McLeod's codified technique).
What makes the New York Dance Festival unique is its unlimited access: access
for the client, for the master teacher, and to understanding the professional
process, all of which is facilitated by an acclaimed International faculty.
The Festival has three different levels - beginner, intermediate, and
advanced, so no one has to be overlooked or put through the emotional trials of an
audition. Our program is also based on the emotional safety of our participants,
which is reflected in the New York Institute of Dance and Education's
philosophy that "successful teaching requires paying equal attention to the heart of every participant." Each participant, as well as their
parent/guardian, is required to sign our "Right to a Positive Work Environment"
contract. This agreement ensures that no degrading, embarrassing or sarcastic
statements will be made in public or private that could foster a negative
learning environment. No belittling or unpleasant conversations compromising the
dignity and respect of the participants or faculty will be tolerated. This
policy allows everyone at the Festival to
release their fears and to reach our
number one goal - to have fun!

Integrated Programming
The NYDF Integrated Programming allows you to bring your students
to the New York Dance Festival for one or two days of master classes at the amazingly discounted rate of $75 a person per day! Your field trip to the Festival includes 8 1/2
hours of technique classes, repertory, and composition with a critically acclaimed faculty
that will change your life. This program allows for you to run your summer schedule, but
still leaves room for you to share this dance experience with your clients. This initiative can be used by a individual dancer as well.
Cash Back Profit Sharing
Many studio owners would like to give their students the unbelievable option of studying
with several world-class teachers simultaneously, but also must face the reality of paying
bills in the summer. If you're one of those people, then perhaps this plan will work for
you! Schools that actively refer students to the Festival, and those students register and pay full tuition, the New York Dance Festival will support your efforts by giving your school
a Profit Sharing contribution of $200 per student for the first 19 participants. For the 20th
student and beyond, we will give $300 per student. Integrate the Festival into your
summer program, give your students the options you’ve always wanted to, and make
money at the same time! We are committed to offering the very best dance experience,
and making it accessible to all dance businesses as we create economic opportunities so

Dance Teacher!
Each year the New York Dance Festival honors people of distinguished service with the DeLavallade Spirit Award, and dance's celebrated pioneers with the annual DeLavallade Award for Dance, the Festival's highest honor. The award is named in honor of one of dance's greatest and most humble dance icons, Mrs. Carmen DeLavallade. These awards are presented for excellence or service in dance.
This year's DeLavallade Spirit Award will pay homage to dance teachers who have taught dance for 25 years or more. This evening of recognition is in appreciation for pioneers and visionaries of dance.
As a special part of the Festival, area sponsors have collaborated to create the International Stage Regional Dance Concert. Dance companies from around the upstate region are invited to submit video applications to participate in our national presentation of New York State Regional Dance Companies. The goal is to give upstate dance entities the opportunity to have their work recognized, and to create a venue for some of the top media outlets and leading publications to come and critically review the concert, giving national attention to dance companies from the upstate NY region.
