Jerami Kipp : Biography

Jerami Kipp, Senior Associate of the New York Institute of Dance and Education and the New York Dance Festival, holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the State University of New York at Purchase, and is a founding choreographer for the Sean McLeod Dance Experience debut in Basingstoke, England.

Mr. Kipp is on faculty of the American Master Class Tour and a soloist with the Kaleidoscope Dance Theatre. Jerami Kipp is a Janet Collins Fellow, an International Performer, and accomplished African Hand Drummer and educator. Jerami has studied dance and arts administration through the Applied Study Program at the New York Institute of Dance of Education and drumming with Rusted Root’s Jim Donovan, Ghanaian drum master Etse Nyadedzor and additionally with Elie Kihonia, Master Drummer from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Jerami Kipp has worked with several notable choreographers, most recently, Nora Daniel, Pam Tanowitz, Victoria Dale, Dianne McIntyre, Luca Veggetti, and Sean McLeod.

For seven years and through college, Jerami traveled extensively including England, Vancouver, Barbados and Trinidad & Tobago teaching and studying the McLeod method of Modern Dance and Reinforced Motor Function. After years of direct study and hands on instruction, Jerami is one of only a few certified to teach McLeod Technique and Reinforced Motor Function as written about in Dance Teacher Magazine.

Jerami danced with the Eclectix Dance Company as a special guest artist for the New York performance of "A Muse," performed at The Gershwin Hotel in NYC. He continued that performance stint with the company for a concert at New Dance Group Theater. Mr. Kipp performed with the Kaleidoscope Dance Theatre at New York City’s famed Ailey Citigroup Theater, as the Tina Thompson Dance Theater presented ECCENTRICA.

Mr. Kipp performed as a drummer and dancer for the International Drummer and Dancer Tour with Jim Donovan, and multi-award winning International Producer and Choreographer Sean McLeod. Jerami has appeared repeatedly as a freelance soloist, and also performed extensively as a principal with the New York Dance Ensemble, having several original works set on him.
