PYRIMIDO SCHOOL OF MARTIAL ARTS
Our principles teach "The body is the bridge to the mind, the mind is the bridge to the emotions, and the emotions control the body." These three components make up the person: who we are, what we believe and what we are capable of. In short, we introduce clients to themselves, allow them to explore, understand and control their fears when dealing with confrontations or fighting (i.e. defense), and other insecurities. We stress the necessity of being a good person and non judgmental.
To make this feasible, PYRIMIDO has a two-sided interview process: First, the students comes in to observe class and the teachings to see if he/she is interested. Second, PYRIMIDO observes the student to find out what their goal is in searching for a DOJO or SCHOOL. This way, if they are interested in a school that stresses tournaments, belt clubs, or an entirely different process in how to proceed, we can help them find that school and minimize their delay.
Although the school base comes from a traditional background, PYRIMIDO has incorporated positions which may be looked at as quite modern. We don't believe in the "I say, you do" method. We believe respect is earned and will be earned equally from each other simultaneously. PYRIMIDO teaches, "YOU ARE NOT LUCKY BECAUSE WE'RE YOUR TEACHERS, WE'RE BLESSED BECAUSE YOU ARE OUR STUDENTS." Only by being thought-conscious and a good person can you inspire others to be. These are not words that are simply spoken, it's a discipline that is shown daily. However, if there should come a time in which one loses control of these qualities, if only for a moment, one will learn compassion as they are shown unconditional understanding and forgiveness.
THIS IS THE REAL REASON MARTIAL ARTS WAS STARTED,"TO PROTECT THE NORMAL EVERYDAY NON-VIOLENT PERSON."
If this philosophy seems too wishy washy, this is not the school for you. Without these qualities one would never be taught anything that could seriously harm someone. At the PYRIMIDO SCHOOL OF MARTIAL ARTS these are the disciplines necessary to govern this beautiful, deadly art you potentially could come to know.
BOXING at N.Y.I.D.E.
Learn the sport and discipline of boxing with Quadir Muntaquim, who among many other titles in the boxing world, was the 1982 ESPN Light Heavyweight champion, upsetting world-rated Felton Woods upon joining the tournament. He also worked with Jeff Forseman to establish BOX Inc. (Better Opportunity Exists) to bring top-flight amateur
boxing to communities in the Finger Lakes Region.
This very popular addition to the N.Y.I.D.E. lineup of services has now well established itself as a strong program. The school operates as a non-contact, non-competitive school, focusing on the training, discipline, mental awareness, exercise, and stamina the boxing world requires. Clients interested in competing can do so through Mr. Muntaquim's connection to several competitions and tournament circuits.
