N.Y.I.D.E - New York Institute of Dance & EducationNew York Institute of Dance & education

Our objectives are encompassed in these six core principles:

1. "Example the Behaviors that we'd like to see in our lives and community."

2. Do not complain. Our core intent is to do no harm. This includes mental, physical, and most importantly
emotional. To this end, we as an organization adopt this creed: We will make no suggestions that we are not equally willing to help implement. We will seek to present useful comparisons, but only as a tool of understanding our new direction, not as a means of ridicule.

3. Identify issues. Our intent is to ignite logical evaluations of community or global situations and goals using the combined intellect of the executive committee, all members, and partners. When necessary, we will attempt to offer a multicultural opinion or view of a situation, policy, law, or event. We will also at times give opinions on whether a particular project, approach, event, or direction is truly multicultural-friendly, and/or truly inclusive in its intent. We will do this by allowing organizations and events to show our support by adding the icon: Endorsed by "Change
International."

4. Cultivate solutions. As a body of multicultural, multi-generational, intellectual, and financially diverse thinkers, our goal will be to work with all parties and individuals to propose well-thought and immediately tangible solutions to problems.

5. Move to action. No more talking.

6. Be inclusive. Give everyone the opportunity to be included. This principle does not preclude a "right," rather an “opportunity.” Our focus will be to include anyone interested and willing to implement healthy possibilities.

Our Elements of Implementation:

A. We will work from a base of intelligence and transparency: Let everyone see and be included in what we are trying to accomplish.

B. We are never going to have a problem in identifying race, and show through our behavior that it ultimately makes no difference. We aim to remove the fear of discussing race or the stereotypical manner that it is used or identified.

C. We need to establish a foundation in concert with creating healthy environments for kids and adults equally. We must realize that to have a sustained effect on a child, you must also have a consistent and positive affect on the parents and other adults in their lives.

D. We are going to combat this new "Generation Segregation." Meaning: The
practice and belief that we can save a kid without saving their parents.

E. Everyone must be given the opportunity to WIN!
